If you're looking for a sign, this is it (iylfastii) is an exhibited work by Matthias Erhardt. It looks to share the artists 'universe' with the audience, allowing them to build up their own parallel universes with his imagery.
Displayed at the Clay Show at The Truman Brewery: 21st to the 26th of June 2018.
"I am interested in constructing my own unique photographic universe to display to others. I believe we all have a truly unique view of the world that is only seen by ourselves, and I want to share my unique version of this through my photography.
I would love to create an experience that placed someone into my imagery, my story. Throwing the viewer into the middle of my stars, my constellations, my planets, armed only with their unique outlook on life and their unique input into building it up into their own unique universe that exists parallel to my own. How would someone else react in my constricted and constructed visual universe? What meaning will they find? What will they create? What will they share? This experience of unique stories from unique people fascinates me." - Matthias Erhardt
“...it is ultimately good to break away from the false aspects of present-day perceptions. Although we may grieve the loss of our previous convictions, we are liberated to explore whole new realities by letting go of old beliefs. This can be deeply fulfilling, as our true identity emerges naturally within a more truthful world. Sometimes we must break away from our perceptions to discover more about the ‘tru-man’ within.”
“We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented."
The Truman Show (1998) - Christof (Ed Harris)
Each person’s universe, their reality, is just a manifestation of their perspective. There is an objective reality and then there is a ‘truth’ that has been shaped by human experience and emotion.
